Hiatus

Before I go on with my camper van story I can no longer resist showing you a picture of my new desk. I should say newly installed desk, as it has, in fact, been lying in wait in my next door neighbour's garage for the past three years. It's only finally made it into the house because she asked me if she could take it to a charity shop as she needed the space it was taking up.

As my old desk was getting a bit long in the tooth I asked Bob to bring it in for me and here it is all settled and lovely. I can't get over how pleased I am with it.

It is lovely and very organized. Would you mind posting another picture in one month, so I can see if you are just a naturally organized person?

And have you really had it for three years?

It sounds like what you really want to see, Carole, is the table on the other side of the room which is covered in paper. Or the couch and coffee table which are both covered in splayed books.

I've actually had it for almost four years. It was given to us by Stevie's sister to help furnish a house his company rented for him to save on hotel bills. When he quit that job this was one of the things I couldn't part with so brought up. It's only now that I've found a space for it!

Great desk! That looks so much tidier and nicer than my own desk that I am almost tempted to start cleaning it.

Almost: I just looked outside and noticed another snow flurry. What's with this weather? I'll have to wait until it's a little warmer to start my spring cleaning in earnest. Meanwhile, the whole of our house looks like your description of your sofa.

Consideraby tidier and neater than mine. I clicked on the photo to get the enlarged version - fantastic :)

I'm envious of your flat space.I have two mugs with pens- mostly dried up and pencils - needing sharpening and I knock the blasted things over regularly.

Wow! It's so neat. I mean.... I just love how everything is piled up nicely and there's no junk around your keyboard.
Like many, I shove things around while I am writing. I have aspirations to a flat surface with absolutely nothing on it except the computer.

But knowing me, I'd junk it up fairly quickly.

A handsome aquisition, Eryl. That is how a desk ought to look. It ougnt not look like someone's left the window open in a gale for a hundred weight of books and newspapers and paper to fly around like they're at a printed word frat-party.

You've inspired me. Me go tidy up now.

Mary ~ My work space is the one place in the house I keep clean and tidy.

Kim ~ You'll have got a good look at the parrot skull then?

Pat ~ Everyone needs a flat space.

Kanani ~ The little cubby holes make keeping the desk space free so much easier. My last desk always had tumbling piles on it.

Sam ~ I think this must be the first time I've ever inspired someone to tidy up!

I just realized that if I click on the photo it gets REALLY big. Now I feel completely voyeuristic and I can see you have Marlboros on the right, along with a list of names and "A Red Wheelbarrow."

Kanani ~ I should probably have thought of that before I took the photo! I could have made myself look terribly worthy. At least there's no sign of an overflowing ashtray.

Dave ~ Hello, and thanks for your comment.

Aha, and I spy a Cohiba minis box! And that tin under the desk looks very familiar... did it have tea in it many moons ago? I write from the most untidy spot in the house...

Eryl Shields said...

Conan ~ You either have amazing eyesight or you are an evil smoker of Cohibas too.

I believe the tin did once have tea in it but now it holds all my black USB cables, which is very kind of it.

Cohibas, si! Mucho!
